Sri Aurobindo Ashram
Located towards the eastern part of the city, Sri Aurobindo Ashram is among the famous tourist places of Pondicherry. Manakula Vinayagar Temple
Built around 500 years ago, the Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple is one of the oldest Hindu Temples in Pondicherry. Manakulam translates to “Sand Pond” in Tamil and refers to the pond surrounded by sand on which the temple was once constructed.
The temple is dedicated to Bhavaneshwar Ganapathy (Ganesha) and it enshrines a grand idol of the Lord. The idol is called Vellakkaran Pillai. Built over an area of around 7913 square feet, the temple has marvelous architecture. The elegant Mandapam, Raja Gopuram, and Praharam are typical features of the traditional Dravidian style of architecture of the temple.
Each year during Vijayadashami, a procession of the Lord is taken around the city on this chariot. The celebration is known as Manakula Vinayagar Koil and is attended by thousands of devotees. Ganesh Chaturthi is also celebrated with much fanfare at the temple.
Pondicherry Museum
The Pondicherry Museum exhibits a wide range of artifacts displaying the city’s rich cultural heritage. Set up as a church in 1908, it was elevated to the status of a Basilica in 2011. Located in MG Road Area of Puducherry, the grand edifice is decorated with stained glass panels. Bharati Park

French War Memorial
A historical attraction in Pondicherry, the French War Memorial is located at Goubert Avenue. The memorial was built to honor the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War I. It was erected in 1937 and inaugurated by Governor Crocicchia in 1938. You can visit the memorial between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on all days of the week.

Arikamedu Puducherry
