The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is considered to be one of the most picturesque churches in Pondicherry constructed by the French in 1908. It is situated adjacent to the MG Road, this being one among the 21 Basilicas present in India. This church is also well known by its Gothic-style design and serenity.
In 2011, it received a special title of Basilica and it became an even greater attribute of the Christian world. The church features large paintings of glass of 28 saints among other pictures depicting the life of Jesus. The interior of this church appears glamorous through these colorful glass windows because as the sun radiates through the windows you see the church appears delightful.
It is possible to commemorate in this Basilica, rest, or admire the building. Most of them will visit the place during Christmas, New Year and Easter when grand parties are celebrated with love and excitement.
