Ousteri Wetland and National Park also known as Osudu Lake is one of the finest destinations individuals who love nature can ever visit in Puducherry. It is a serene area in Osudu Village with a fresh water Lake, Bird watching and with picturesque view.

The lake dates back to approximately 500 years, which was constructed in the Vijayanagara Dynasty. Today it is considered as one of the most significant wetlands in Asia that is safeguarded by International Union conservation natural (IUCN).

A Birdwatchers Paradise

Occupying a land area of 390 hectares, the wetland accommodates a great number of local and migrant birds. It is an ideal birdwatching, wild life observation and nature photography centre. It is a good place where you can observe some birds such as herons, egrets, storks, kingfishers, and even rare migratory types in the season of winter.

Ousteri Wetland can be visited during the months of October to March as one can easily find different migratory species of birds during this period and weather is pleasant too.
